Improving Social Inclusion

We know that building a sense of social inclusion is a key factor in reducing the likelihood, or avoiding, depression and anxiety.  Feeling social inclusion means feeling like you're not alone.  It doesn't mean that you'll always get along with everyone but it does mean you know you belong somewhere.

At StartOut Australia, we want to build a community that people can really feel like they belong to.  We want all of our staff, volunteers, mentors, participants and our partners, supporter and donors to feel like they are a part of something special.

We're going to achieve this in a number of ways including:

  • Creating an online community for young DSG people.
  • Providing access to stories promoting positive mental health strategies for young DSG people.
